If you are reading this, you are familiar with terms like self-concept and self-love. In the manifesting community, self-concept and self-love is a big topic of discussion as many people think of it as a tool to manifest. At the core of Neville’s teachings, he proclaims that there is “no one to change but self”. He spoke about embodying love and changing the view you have of yourself. First things first, you do NOT need self-love to manifest. It’s honestly irrelevant. Whether you love yourself, feel worthy of your desire, or feel good about yourself- your desires are a promise.
Self-love can be defined as “regard for one’s own well-being and happiness”. To me, self-love is being faithful to your mental diet. It is choosing thoughts that are loving and happy. It is allowing yourself to experience peace and joy. If you love yourself, you wouldn’t be entertaining thoughts that cause you anxiety or sadness. Your Higher Self does not know fear, anxiety, and sadness. Those are all from the ego. Your Higher Self only knows love.
When manifesting, I think it is important to review your concept of Self. Do you identify as someone who has “limits”? Do you believe that your desire is impossible to manifest? Do you think that you will only get your desire if you do XYZ? Because if you are the creator of your reality, you really do not need to anything. My favourite quote is “You do not need to lift a finger”. To consciously manifest, you just need to be aware of who you are. An infinite being having a human experience. At your core, you are love and you are limitless. To me, self-love is reminding myself the power I have within me and reimagining myself to be the person I want to be living the life I want to live. To me, self-love is looking at my “negative” thoughts not with judgment but with love and kindness because I understand it is just my ego trying to protect me and I should get back on my mental diet.
Why do you want your desire in the first place? I want a committed relationship because I want to feel safe and loved. The next person wants financial freedom because they want to feel abundant. The next person wants popularity because they want to feel wanted. I say you can give those feelings to yourself. If you are really in tune with yourself and you change your concept of Self to someone who can have whatever they want; who is loved, admired, and wanted; who has full control over their inner world then self-love will come naturally and feelings of abundance, security, freedom, peace will come naturally.
Self-love is not a technique to manifest. The only thing you need to manifest is your thoughts are accepting that it is done. But there is no harm in being compassionate and kind towards yourself. It will help you to remember that you are the creator of your life and help you to dwell in your desired state.
